I grew up the son of a chiropractor in Ohio and my dad was my hero.  I always knew I wanted to help people in the amazing and natural way he did.  After years of reading “Outside” magazine and being drawn in by the pictures and stories of mountains and evergreens, I knew the beautiful Pacific Northwest was where I would make my home and go about changing the world in the best way I knew how. So after graduating from Palmer College of Chiropractic I came to Seattle and studied postural correction through Chiropractic Biophysics. I opened a practice in Burien at the end of my 3-year associateship and married my wife, Erin.  We bought a home here and proceeded to fill it with three beautiful children, all very energetic little boys.

This is where my chiropractic perspective started to shift. One of our little boys became ill and suffered some neurological damage. We praise God that it was mild and our sweet, spunky little boy is still with us.  But we saw firsthand the pain parents suffer when their little one is ill.  And we saw the miracle of a tiny, young nervous system rebuilding itself bit by bit.  We know that our youngest patients are the quickest healers and have seen chiropractic adjustments “turn on the lights” in our own little guy and we want to bring hope and health to other families.  We know that starting children out healthy and keeping nervous system interference to a minimum is easier than fixing illness later in life.

So my why changed.  We turned our office into a child-friendly, family-centered environment.  My training in Chiropractic Biophysics is why I know that postural correction is the most amazing course of care for impacted adults.  But I also know that starting children out on the path to wellness early will keep them strong and negate the need for more complex intervention later. And isn’t that what preventative care is all about?  Kids deserve the best, healthiest life we can give them. My own children and the children in my community are my why.

I found Collins Chiropractic after about 18 years of dealing with symptoms I had accepted as my fate for the rest of my life. Anxiety, stomach aches, head aches, intense back pain are a few of the things I never thought I’d have an escape from. As a patient at Collins Chiropractic, my eyes were opened to the idea that I was never born to live this way. I was born to be healthy! I had never even considered that I’d be able to live a normal, healthy life before being a patient here. Along with realizing that I could someday be healthy, my back pain went away along with a myriad of other symptoms I had no idea were related to my spine! I fell in love with falling in love with my body and its amazing functions.

After working here for some time, I fell further in love with helping other people reach their fullest potential through chiropractic care.
You’re most likely going to find me either knitting, dancing around town, swimming in Lake Burien, karaoke-ing or hanging with my awesome husband, Jerome.
I believe with my whole heart that everyone is worthy of health and happiness. My mission is to help people feel empowered in their health and in their lives.
Collins Chiropractic provides the platform for me to live out my mission. I’m incredibly lucky to get to be on the Collins Chiro team because it means I get to serve people I love WITH people I love.

Before I started at Collins Chiropractic I was planning on becoming a nurse, with the intent of helping people. I had heard so many stories of how incredible it is to be with someone at the end of their life. While I still agree that’s true, is it not more meaningful to help someone heal and live a longer, healthy life? It wasn’t until a few months had passed working as a Certified Nursing Assistant, when I realized that I was consistently surrounded by sickness and death. The patients that I cared for were simply being sustained by their medications, no one was being healed. I was in a place where it was considered “normal” for people to need help eating, brushing their teeth, and getting dressed, simply because they were getting old.

I refused to believe that was inevitable, and the life we were all heading towards. This realization left me with a deeper hunger to help people before they got to the end of their life. Collins Chiropractic has satisfied that hunger. I feel so blessed to be a part of a vibrant, life-giving community. The positive environment and common focus on healing is so refreshing and contrary to what I’ve experienced in the past. I’m passionate about chiropractic because I’ve seen what it allows people to do—it doesn’t tell your body it’s lacking something. Instead, it removes any interference within your nervous system so you can be functioning at your optimum level. We were made to be healthy and joyful and I’m so excited to be a part of a team that is spreading that news to so many people.

My BIG “WHY” (motivating purpose), is twofold. First, to see people be their full, true, unique selves, living a life to their full potential, knowing that the beauty and change we long for is already deposited in our own hearts and simply needs to be cultivated and shared. Second to see deep, rich and unifying relationships formed with ourselves, God, other people and the earth. I believe that we were made to thrive, that we live best when we live from our center and that we (and the world) need the best we have to offer. So what does this have to do with Collins Chiropractic? Here, we are passionate about seeing people in our community live a full life by removing subluxation. We live our whole life through our nervous system, so if we can see people tap into the fullness of their innate health and potential, everything else improves! This philosophy and practice seems clear to me now, but it has been a journey to get to this point.

Growing up, my health and wellness was a struggle that involved lots of medication and treatment. I was diagnosed with asthma when I was three, so inhalers and nebulizers became close companions for me. I’ve been hospitalized for pneumonia as well as stopping breathing. What was frustrating about much of my experiences with medication and traditional treatment was that I would be able to breathe well for a little while and then the symptoms would return. It was as though I was only healthy when I had some kind of stimulant or steroid in my system. I grew increasingly resilient in my childhood through playing wind instruments and running, and I became resolved in high school to be independent from medication. It’s been a journey and I’m still on one, but I have worked to live a healthier and more free life, and see this work as a continuation of that journey. I want to work to see each of us thrive.

I love living a beautiful, zany, thriving life with my amazing wife, Courtney, our two incredible kids (Hosanna and Theo), and our community here in the south end of Seattle. I’m fascinated by Jesus, theology and contemplative spirituality; seeing people live their deeper purpose; creating art (writing, music and conversation); loving people and our environment and being active outside. You might see me talking loudly at a local coffeeshop, riding my bike or drumming on any and everything. I’m blogging daily at benandcourtneyfader.blogspot.com.

I am excited to be my full self here at Collins Chiropractic and contribute my passions to this work. If we haven’t met already, I look forward to connecting.

The people at Collins Chiropractic are some of the most awesome people ever! The office is a place where joy is contagious and kindness is spread around like confetti. It’s such a privilege to be surrounded by people who are passionate about people and helping them on the journey towards wellness.

Collins Chiropractic has allowed me to see how powerful and capable our bodies really are. Being healthy doesn’t mean taking a bunch of drugs in order to feel better and get rid of pain and symptoms. Our bodies have the capacity to live and flourish in an amazing way when we take care of them! I want other people to see the incredible possibilities of wellness through chiropractic care. Let’s stop trying to just fix the symptoms while ignoring the problem, let’s make our bodies well and be amazed at the potential we have!

I live my life in a constant search for inspiration, and the two things that consistently inspire me are the people I meet and the spaces I spend my time. Collins Chiropractic has been a source of both of those things for me over the past 7 years. The first time I set foot into this office I was a 16 year old patient and I had no idea what I was getting myself into. The culture at Collins Chiropractic has taught me about my body’s innate power and has shown me how chiropractic can allow the body to operate at its full potential. Our ability to grow, heal, and thrive is built into us and I want everyone to know just how amazing that is!

It is an incredible privilege to work with patients, to hear their stories, and to be a part of a team that is making the world healthier and happier by allowing people to be a beautiful expression of their most full self.

Life is beautiful, but sometimes it’s beauty is missed simply because we overlook it. For a long time I was distracted by headaches, muscle tension, motion sickness, and digestion problems. My body was not communicating with itself because I was subluxated, but chiropractic helped restore communication in my nervous system. Collins Chiropractic allows people to experience the fullness of life by removing interferences in the nervous system. A body that functions well in itself enables the person to function well in their environment.

Collins Chiropractic has set out to make Burien the healthiest city on earth by removing subluxation and promoting a loving, community based culture. Collins Chiropractic has a high-energy atmosphere where people feel welcomed to relax, heal, and embrace the beauty of life. I have never been to any place like this before, and I am so excited to join the team!
